Our Assurance Process

The LWG AS assurance process delivers credible, consistent certification aligned with Leather Working Group Standards. We are committed to upholding the highest levels of quality and impartiality across audit, evaluation, and certification.

Approved Auditors

Only auditors who are trained in the LWG Standard, have completed the mandatory induction period, and are approved by LWG Assurance Services are permitted to carry out assessments.

Independent assignment

All audits against the LWG Standards are booked through LWG AS to ensure consistent oversight and fairness, through a system of controlled auditor rotation.

Continuous improvement

LWG Assurance Services has established clear process to promote good practice across the organisation. It includes regular risk assessment and a system of formal feedback to maintain high quality standards and support ongoing improvement.

Leather Working Group (LWG) is a global not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder initiative committed to building a world where leather is sourced, produced, and used sustainably, protecting people and the planet. For more than 20 years, it has set the Audit Standards against which leather manufacturers and traders can be assessed and certified in order to recognise best practice and drive improvements in the leather industry. Over a third of global finished leather production is assessed and certified against the LWG Audit Standard.
