Only auditors who are trained in the LWG Standard, have completed the mandatory induction period, and are approved by LWG Assurance Services are permitted to carry out assessments.

LWG Assurance Services is a not-for-profit organisation that operates independently, which means decisions are made without commercial pressure and ensures fairness and impartiality across all activities. Any revenue is reinvested into the leather industry to help raise standards, with a strong focus on long-term improvement and positive impact.
Policies & Procedures
LWG AS has defined procedures and policies to ensure good practices across the organisation, and we continuously assess risks in relation to our activities on impartiality and potential conflict of interest. Our controlled audit booking ensures strict auditor rotation and allows a maximum of two repeat auditor assessments. Independent review and verification maintains the integrity and consistency of audits. A formal feedback loop with the standard-setter, Leather Working Group, supports the ongoing improvement of that standard and holds LWG Assurance Services accountable to high quality delivery and service. We take all concerns seriously. Whether it’s an appeal, complaint, or allegation, each submission is carefully reviewed in a fair and confidential manner.
